I’m racing for Team Waypoint Adventure because it is a dream of mine to run the Boston Marathon, but representing Waypoint Adventure would be incredibly special. My twin brother has a disability, and Waypoint has always made him (and me!) feel at home and like we can come as we are—something of huge value. I’m so grateful for the impact Waypoint has had on my life and I’m excited to combine my love of running with this incredible opportunity.

Running has always been more than a sport for me—it’s a way to inspire others and give back to causes that matter. I’ve completed multiple marathons and raised funds for organizations like Sense, Team World Vision, and Team for Kids, all focused on helping people overcome limitations. Running the Boston Marathon would mark my fourth World Major, and I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful way to reach that milestone than by racing for Waypoint Adventure—using every mile to honor my brother and help others discover their own strength.

I’m racing for Team Waypoint Adventure because I’ve seen firsthand the impact that adaptive and inclusive adventure programs can have. My older brother has a disability, and growing up, I watched how these kinds of programs helped him build confidence, independence, and lasting friendships. Now, as an educator who’s had the opportunity to participate in Waypoint Adventure programs with my students, I’ve seen the same impact with students stepping outside their comfort zones, discovering new strengths, and realizing what they’re capable of.

As a Waypoint Adventure staff member, I have lead many programs, yet, I never cease to be amazed at the beauty of community and the power of adventure. I feel most joyful and empowered when I am pushing my body to do hard things. Physical and adventurous activity helps me regulate both my body and emotions, while teaching me more about who I am and what I am capable of. It is why I feel so strongly about Waypoint’s mission of ensuring ALL people have the chance to engage in and with challenging adventure opportunities in order to discover their own purpose, talents, and strengths.
